Elisabetta Bresciani is an independent curator and writer. She studied Art History at Ludwig-Maximilians-University, Munich, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Brescia and Vienna University.

She founded and was Artistic Director of the Contemporary Arts and Cultures Gallery Il Fondaco, Salo’from 2004-2011. Her programme surveys the interaction between contemporary artists and the local socio-cultural traditions.
She has curated an ongoing series of critically acclaimed projects with contemporary artists that have included Joseph Kosuth, Jochen Gerz, Marc Dion, Ernst Gamperl, Steiner&Lenzlinger, Ritsue Mishima, Mariella Simoni and Sofie Bird Moller.

She initiates projects with a cross-disciplinary approach, working with visual and performing artists, designers, writers and cultural studies specialists in order to examine and re-examine history, art and artefacts in the light of current cultural-related issues. She has organized exhibitions at unusual venues which combine contemporary art with historic sites and extra-European artefacts, like the ongoing series 'Kustar Now' at Tolstoy Library, Munich.

She is also a writer, having published both on ancient and contemporary art, including 'Agostino Gallo. From humanism in agriculture to Land Art', Edizione l'Obliquo Brescia 2011, which offers an extensive survey of the relationship between the artist, nature and culture, a subject on which she also lectures.

Elisabetta Bresciani was a Visiting Lecturer in Museum Studies at Fine Art Academy, Vienna, 2002-2007, at Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Brescia, 2007-2009, at Università del Politecnico, Milan 2009-2012, at The Prince of Wales Foundation, Romania, 2015-ongoing and a Curator at Galleria Civica del Disegno, Salò, 1997-2002, at The Marzona Collection / Architekturzentrum, Vienna, 2002-2004, at Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna, 2004-2006, Belvedere Museum, Vienna 2007 - 2009, at Collezione Mutti / Museo delle Arti Orientali, Rome, 2009-2012.

As Senior Visiting Lecturer at Augsburg University she is setting up and delivering a programme that is designed to develop professional and academic excellence in the field of contemporary curatorial practice; considering history of exhibitions in the 20th and 21st century and exhibitions-related fields (display design, catalogue production, education programme) as well as aspects of exhibition management; focusing in-depth on aesthetic, social, political and philosophical questions that are brought to bear in any place or at any event in which contemporary art is situated; providing a practice-led research context for students at any stage of their professional practice; experimenting in the expanded field of curatorial pedagogy by initiating collaboration on an interdisciplinary basis and extending knowledge through this innovative process. Initiating hands-on internships with art and cultural institutions for students who are given opportunity to work directly on exhibitions, pedagogical practices and community projects matching the students’ interests.
