Research at the chair of school pedagogy at the University of Augsburg



The board of school pedagogy mainly researches in a hermeneutic and qualitative-empirical way. Meta-studies are favoured when proceeding in a quantitative-empirical way.

Subjects of research of school pedagogy at the University of Augsburg are the following:

  1. thinking, feeling, willing, and acting of all persons involved in “Bildung und Erziehung” at the social institution school,
  2. the thus resulting interactions and transactions and
  3. documents ( articles, pictures, artifacts ) and their contents related to the involved persons and the institution. Research is done in a systematic, historical, comparative way, and with a critical attitude towards  ideologies.


The aim of research is the understanding of pedagogically-didactically relevant actions and facts by describing, gaining/analyzing data and interpreting them.
