1987 state examination

1991 doctoral dissertation: “From ,geisteswissenschaftliche Pädagogik' to ,kritisch-konstruktive Erziehungswissenschaft'. Wolfgang Klafki’s contribution to the development of educational science“ (degree: “summa cum laude”)

1993 „Karl Giehrl Award 1992“ for the best doctoral dissertation at the Friedrich Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg

1997 habilitation (postdoctoral dissertation: „The political and pedagogical attempts of the leading representatives of West German educational science after 1945 to come to terms with National Socialism“)

 

Research and Teaching Career:

1990-1996 assistant lecturer at the Pedagogical Institute of the Friedrich-Alexander- University, Erlangen-Nürnberg

09/1997-12/1998 academic assistant to set up a Theodor-Litt-Research Centre at the Pedagogical Faculty of the University of Leipzig; teaching assignment for educational science at the University of Leipzig;

01/1998-9/2000 private lecturer at the Pedagogical Institute of the Friedrich-Alexander-University, Erlangen-Nürnberg

16.10.2000 appointment to the chair for educational science at the University of Augsburg (C4-professor)

a multitude of responsibilities in the university self-administration and in the field of academic politics
