1991 doctoral dissertation: “From ,geisteswissenschaftliche Pädagogik' to ,kritisch-konstruktive Erziehungswissenschaft'. Wolfgang Klafki’s contribution to the development of educational science“ (degree: “summa cum laude”)

1993 „Karl Giehrl Award 1992“ for the best doctoral dissertation at the Friedrich Alexander University Erlangen-Nürnberg

1997 habilitation (postdoctoral dissertation: „The political and pedagogical attempts of the leading representatives of West German educational science after 1945 to come to terms with National Socialism“)
